Dangerous goods, also called hazardous materials (or HazMat), are solids, liquids, or gases that can harm people, other living organisms, property, or the environment. Hazardous materials include those that are radioactive, flammable, explosive, corrosive, oxidizing, asphyxiating, biohazards, toxic, pathogenic, or allergenic. Also included are materials whose physical conditions (e.g. compressed gases, liquids, and hot materials) may be problematic or may they have other characteristics that render them hazardous in specific circumstances.

JLC can help mitigate the risks associated with hazardous materials in buildings. JLC can work with building staff to inform people who handle dangerous materials on how to do so safely. Using the proper safety precautions during the transport, use, storage or disposal of Haz Mat greatly reduces problems that can arise in these situations. Our training department can also provide instruction on how to work safely with haz mat, wear protective equipment and to response promptly to accidents and spills.
